The Ocotillo is a curious, and unique desert plant of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. For much of the year, the plant appears to be an arrangement of large spiny dead sticks, although closer examination reveals that the stems are partly green. With rainfall the plant quickly becomes lush with small (2-4 cm) ovate leaves, which may remain for weeks or even months. In this Sunset picture taken at Saguaro Buttes it makes for an unique picture, with the Ocotillo and Saguaro cactus silhouetted against the setting sun, the Palo Verde tree in the background, and the bride and groom framed in the center.
Michael and Kelly were married on a May 30th. 2009 wedding at Saguaro Buttes at 5:30 PM. They currently are living in Buffalo, New York, enjoying the weather there, as Kelly is working on her post graduate degree. Michael is currently working for Enterprise. They hope to move back to Arizona after Kelly finishes her degree. They met while attending NAU in Flagstaff.

Katie McDonnell & Sandy Klase were wed at Saguaro Buttes on December 27, 2008, 4:00 PM, on a chilly afternoon. The weather was beautiful but on the cooler side.
Maggie Haynes and Seth Yearout were wed at Saguaro Buttes on January 2, 2009. They live in North Carolina and have family in Tucson. They had guests coming from a number of different states including; Wyoming, Colorado, Virginia, California, Alabama, Maryland, Georgia, Mississippi, and Maine. They had a beautiful evening, with wonderful weather.
This table design was displayed at a recent wedding at Saguaro Buttes. The brown favors matched the brown linen, and the gold charger plates matched the beautiful flower arrangement.
A blue linen napkin in a wine glass with a white rose makes an elegant accent to your table setting. At a recent wedding at Saguaro Buttes this arrangement was used. I don’t have much to say about it other than it looked beautiful.
This photo of a taller center piece from a low angle with colored napkins placed in the wine glasses gives the table a splash of color. It also allows your guests to see each other across the table, yet still have a large stunning arrangement.
What do you do when you plan an outdoor wedding ceremony, and it rains, or the weather becomes so inclement that you find it near impossible to have the ceremony outdoors? Fortunately this happen rarely in Southern Arizona, (that’s why we live here) but it does happen. At Saguaro Buttes recently we had a wedding that needed to “come inside”. It turned out to be one of those rare cold rainy days. Our solution is a simple one, since our reception hall is at the same location, we simply bring the ceremony inside, and the bride and groom use the stage area for the ceremony. With wall to wall windows, you still have a beautiful backdrop, and your guest stay dry and warm. An isle is cleared between the tables, with guests sitting at their reception tables, the wedding party make their entrance. The indoor sound system plays the music. An arch is set up, and can be decorated. And the wedding goes off without a hitch. They do say that rain on your wedding day is considered good luck (sign of great fertility), but it is always good to have a back up plan in case it does rain on your wedding day.

Classical guitar music during your reception can add a very nice ambiance for the enjoyment of your wedding guests. Federico Reggiardo would be a wonderful choice. At a recent wedding at Saguaro Buttes, (pictured to the right), he performed beautifully for an hour or more following the wedding Ceremony, and before the dinner hour. He performs Classical, Flamenco and Original style music, and can also perform your ceremony music.
Originally from Montevideo, Uruguay, Federico Reggiardo began playing guitar at the age of 7. He continued his studies through the university level eventually earning a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Guitar Performance from the prestigious University of Arizona guitar department in Tucson, AZ. Mr. Reggiardo has been extremely fortunate to study with some of the most influential teachers of his time. This included his collegiate studies with professor Thomas Patterson (1995-2002), over a year of private study with the late maestro Abel Carlevaro (1999 & 2001), a semester at the University of Texas at Austin with Adam Holtzman (1997), and his early years of study with Steven Saulls (1988-1996). He has also performed in the masterclasses of David Russell, Abel Carlevaro, William Kanengiser, Costas Cotsiolis, and Dennis Azabagic, among others.
Currently, Mr. Reggiardo divides his time between teaching at the Southwest Guitar Studio and performing at various functions throughout Southern Arizona. You will find more information on his web site and can hear a sampling of his music. You may also call him at 520-955-3505.

Let’s face it, most gifts we give at weddings are pretty much forgotten after a short period of time. The challenge is giving a wedding gift that will mean something to the bride and groom after a few years. That after 10 years, they will still be able to say with fondness, “Our friends Dave and Cindy gave this to us”.
You could call it an art. It takes creativity and some thought, some right brain thinking. But, you also want the gift to be useful and practical. Most brides and grooms have a gift registry today, which makes it easier as the bride and groom have already picked out what they need or want. Some registries have gifts that are more expensive and are dreams more than reality. How about trying to coordinate and pool together several family and friends and purchase one of the more expensive gifts? Whatever you give, your gift to the bride and groom should come from the heart.

Row markers are a nice way to add some elegance at the ceremony site. At Saguaro Buttes we provide the white row markers as another small part of our wedding packages, to help keep costs down and yet make your wedding look elegant. You are able to add your own choice of flowers and bows to coordinate with your ceremony.
Beyond Video is one of our preferred vendors, and a wonderful husband/wife team. One of the few things you take away from your wedding ceremony and reception are the memories, and with a professional videographer, you will have those memories preserved for a lifetime. Their website is Beyond Video.
Beyond Video is a husband/wife video production company. Prior to starting our full time video production company, we were both educators who had used video in our classrooms. We also made promotional and educational training videos. Teaching in various types of settings in the United States and overseas has given us many opportunities to learn about and embrace many cultures as well as to travel to many countries. It is important for us to take the time to get to know our clients so that we are able to capture that certain shot or create just the right effect to personalize their story. We specialize in making our client’s message become a visual reality. A client once said, “It is not often that you find someone who can accurately portray the emotions that we were feeling in our hearts. You not only captured our smiles, you also captured our love.”

This reception table arrangement was very elegant, with striking, dramatic colors. What a beautiful candle lit evening this presented to their wedding guests.
In a recent survey, 84 % of wedding guests prefer assigned seating. It seems surprising, but there are reasons people don’t like unassigned seating. Here are some of the reasons, as one person has listed below.
Even though it is more work to do assigned seating, it is worth the effort, especially for larger weddings. They now make software that can help out with the process.

At a recent wedding at Saguaro Buttes this “Wedding Memorial Table” was on display during the reception. A beautiful table cloth, with nice framed pictures of loved ones and memorial candles, on top of our black baby grand piano, makes an elegant setting. This is a nice way to remember and honor loved ones who were very important to the Bride and Groom, and may have recently passed. Some might believe that these Memorial tables invoke sadness or focus on the past instead of the future during what is suppose to be your most joyous day, but this is not the reaction that I commonly see during the reception. It doesn’t seem to invoke sadness, but rather, fond memories of loved ones who meant a lot to the family. I recently found this poem, whose author is unknown to me, but what I feel is worded wonderfully.
Though your smile is gone forever,
And your hands we cannot touch,
Still we have so many memories,
Of the ones we loved so much
Your memory is our keepsake,
With which we’ll never part,
God has you in his keeping,
We have you in our hearts
~
Although we cannot see you
We know that you are here
Smiling down, watching over us
As we say “I do”
Forever in our hearts
Forever in our lives
And so we say our vows
In loving memory of you
What a great idea. Who has it all figured out when they get married? Not many of us. This bride and groom at Saguaro Buttes, set up a table with note cards and pens for their guests to write notes of advice or encouragement to them and place them in the displayed bottle. This was set up so the guests could write notes during the cocktail hour as well as the reception. I wonder what kind of advice they were given? Only the bride and groom will know.

Matthew Tankersley and Rachel Brown had a beautiful sunset on December 4th, for their wedding at Saguaro Buttes. Here the photographer is taking advantage of it, using the saguaro cactus for a backdrop.
This beautiful table setting at a recent wedding at Saguaro Buttes has a holiday flavor to it. The center pieces on the tables are gift wrapped boxes with bows that color coordinate with the table linens. The gold satin linens with silver charger plates were very elegant. The favors were small silver gift boxes filled with chocolate kisses.
This head table at a recent wedding at Saguaro Buttes is beautifully decorated, with black and white linens and alternating tall and short, white flower centerpieces with candle light to enhance the roses.
Wedding cake toppers are as individual as the bride and groom. From a romantic figure as the one pictured here, to whimsical Smurfs in a car, each one represents your relationship and personality. Customized toppers can also be made to resemble the bride and groom. Many times flowers are placed on the top and cascade down and around the cake, which is also very beautiful. Each has its own meaning and elegance.
One thing to note is make sure the topper is not too heavy for the cake, your baker will be the best person to advise you.
