Should the Flower Girl be Seated during your Wedding Ceremony?
As the wedding officiant this is a question that I receive quite a bit, as we are planning the wedding ceremony. First, I always leave this up to the bride and groom to make the final decision, but my advice is that if they are younger than 5 years old, it may be a good idea to have them seated during the ceremony. Younger children can be very distracting during the ceremony, as they have a hard time standing still, and this can take away from the occasion. Older children usually do fine. A few practical suggestions is to make sure that they go to the bathroom before the ceremony, this can be an important detail. Also seat their parents close to the front, so they can be more easily seated with their parents after they walk down the aisle. Flower girls add a lot to the cuteness quotient in a wedding, and your guests love watching me come down the aisle.
