Blending Jewish and Catholic Traditions at your Wedding Ceremony

Jewish and Catholic Ceremony

Recently at Saguaro Buttes there was conducted a wedding ceremony which included both Jewish and Christian traditions. There was present a Jewish Rabbi and a Roman Catholic Priest jointly officiating the ceremony.  The ceremony lasted close to 50 minutes long and included the Chuppah, the Unity Candle, Breaking of the Glass and also “The Ketubah”. Also included were prayers, readings from both the Old and New Testament, and various readings by family members. The groom and groomsman stood on the left side which is the Jewish custom. The picture above is showing the couple lighting a unity candle, while the priest is explaining the tradition the mothers light the tapers, and the Rabbi in the background with the both their fathers looking on.  The ceremony was both beautiful and meaningful and concluded shortly after sunset.
