Outdoor receptions at night can be a wonderful experience in Tucson. Our weather is fantastic, our views are gorgeous, and unlike other parts of the country, we have few bugs and mosquito. Nothing is more frustrating that getting eaten up by bugs. There are several factors that need to be kept in mind when considering this option. First and foremost is the weather. You want to choose a month that works better for weather. Even though Tucson has some of the best weather in the country there are some months that are better than others. Monsoon season can be tricky with rain showers coming and going, and the heat and humidity of July and August can be a little overwhelming. January and February in Tucson can get real cold at night. March is a transition month and we can have great weather but also a few cold nights. April, May, June, September and October are some of the best months for an outdoor reception in my humble opinion. Second to consider, it is will usually cost extra to have your wedding reception outside. There is more work involved for most venues, and you may have to rent extra stuff like a tent, dance floors, heaters, bathrooms, etc. Thirdly the timeline may be different in an outdoor reception as you have to deal with noise curfew for outdoor sound systems. In Tucson, and Pima County 10:00 pm is as late as you may play loud music, after that time you will have to move the dancing indoor or sharply reduce the volume. These are just a few considerations when having an outdoor evening reception in Tucson.
